Nanny State: What happened on 9 April 1865?

What happened on 9 April 1865?

Today is the anniversary of a sad day in US history.

On this day in 1865, states' rights in the USA died at Appomattox Court House, Virginia.

The United States of America changed from "are" to "is" and we have been unable to reverse the trend toward collectivism.

The War For Southern Independence ended on 9 April 1865 at Appomattox Court House, Virginia.
The sovereignty of the states and their right to secede from the union of states had a more solid legal foundation than the right of the English colonies' right to declare themselves independent from England in 1776.
The United States were a voluntary union of sovereign states, much as the European Union is today, until the point of a bayonet changed the basic political philosophy of states' rights.
